How will I be able to give the baby up? This is a big one. I am not giving the baby up, I am giving the baby back. This baby is not mine, he/she is not genetically related to me in any way. Many surrogates feel like they are having a baby for their best friend. The pregnancy experience is different because you know from the very beginning that you are not bringing this baby home. All of my excitement will be for the new parents.
Does my family know? Yes. And they are all very supportive. My husband was devastated for me when my first match fell through and was very excited when I met my new couple. My MIL will be traveling with me to my appointments and will probably be my biggest fan in addition to my husband!
