Davin and Peter are HERE!!

We finally made it to delivery day after a few bumps in the road.  I was originally scheduled to go on Oct 4 and was sent home due to overcrowding.  I came back on Oct 5 and was delayed by several hours due to a few emergency c sections.  Finally at about 2pm on the 5th, my pitocin was started.  It was working very slowly.  At about 11pm, I decided to have my water broken and get my epidural.  Then we all decided to get some rest.  I'm not sure how much rest I really got, but things were starting to become uncomfortable at about 6am.  After about 3 painful contractions, the team of OBs came in to check me and it was push time!!!  My IF was in a quiet room down the hall, my DH was snoring on the floor, my IM was asleep on the couch, and my mom had just left to change her clothes-it never fails that she leaves the room right as things get going.  So we got everyone ready really quick.  My IPs and my mom stayed at the end of the bed to the side of the OB and my DH held my leg for me.  Two quick pushes and baby Davin was out.  It was so quick and easy.  I couldn't believe it was over already.  My IF cut his cord and he rested on my chest while the OBs felt the position of baby B.  They decided that since he was no longer head down that we would need to head to the OR.  My IPs and my mom stayed back with baby Davin while my DH and I made our way to the OR.  I remember it was cold, I was very itchy, I was nervous, all sorts of emotions were running through my mind.  My OBs were really great at making me feel like everything was just fine.  They tried to turn baby B from the outside but he was transverse with one leg up and one leg down.  His cord was also wrapped around his body.  It was impossible to deliver him vaginally without compromising his cord.  I had never had a c section and even though I had been hoping all along to avoid one, I knew that it was always a possibility. Once they started, I could feel some tugging and some stabbing pain and all of a sudden I woke up and it was all over.  Baby Peter was already out and being looked over in the NICU.  He was perfect.

Davin was 5lb10oz 19in
Peter was 5lb9oz 19.5in

Both babies are home and are doing great!  The IPs and I all live local to one another and I am lucky that I have already been able to have a visit with them.

This was taken in the cafeteria after they sent me home for the day- I was starving!
